Tell us a little about CHILDREN OF THE FOG.

Which character is your favorite and why?
In CHILDREN OF THE FOG, my favorite character is Sadie. She’s a writer of children’s books, a proud mother and a patient wife who has overcome alcoholism. Yet throughout her story, we see her grow in ways that make her shine as a person, a woman and a mother. It is her overwhelming love for her son, Sam, and the guilt she feels after she makes the choice to let a kidnapper take him that has stayed with me long after writing the story. How does one live with a choice like that?
As the author, what surprised you about this story?
I was surprised by the emotion I felt during the last five chapters. I literally held my breath, while typing as fast as possible. I felt an overwhelming sensation of hope, belief in fate and destiny, and love. And then I wept, the last two chapters gripping my heart and leaving me feeling very satisfied and hopeful.
Will there be a sequel?
No. However, my latest thriller, SUBMERGED, does have a cool tie-in to CHILDREN OF THE FOG. The cabin area, the town of Cadomin and one minor character are featured in both. What was fun about creating the tie-ins is that they appear in both books. There is some foreshadowing in CHILDREN OF THE FOG, which alludes to the main character of my new novel, SUBMERGED. They aren’t a series, however my agent at Trident Media has encouraged me to write a third book with a tie-in to SUBMERGED and CHILDREN OF THE FOG. I haven’t started writing it yet, but a plot is brewing.
What was the hardest thing about writing this story?
Writing the last word and saying goodbye to the characters. I will never forget Sadie and Sam.
