This is truly a book for the young and the old. Let's just get the negatives out of the way. While I appreciated the fact of drawing the adults into liking this book, I am not sure children are going to feel the same. The negative use of "NOT Mary & James" on every line was also a bit tedious after 10 alphabets.

What I liked about the book - everything about this book had a meaning to it which the author graciously explains at the end. Each monster, each line. For a child who is afraid of monsters under his or her bed, this book will be a GREAT help in teaching that child to face his / her fears.

How this book can be used in schools? Mary had a Little Lamb doesn't get many children going anymore so if teachers are looking for a creative angle, then this book is one way to go, provided the child is ready and is not afraid of the monsters portrayed in the book.

How can this book be improved? The drawings are simple and get the point across. I am not sure why the text couldn't have be done to compliment the drawings. Secondly, there is a spacing that appears on each page at the start of "mini monsters" and while it didn't bother my reading experience, it did make me wonder why?

Lastly, when this author stopped at my blog during his book tour he had some of the most creative responses I have ever seen. If you think this book is not for you, then check out his other work. This is a man whose talent will outlive many. Keep 'em coming, Tom Skinner.
