Getting to Know Penni Mannas Diefendorf @pmannasd #selfhelp #amwriting #amreading

How did you develop your writing?
I think it is more of the case that my writing developed me :D There I was, minding my own business and suddenly I was getting top marks for my English essays, then I was being dragged into the school library to pen some prose to represent the school in essay writing competitions – I still have a particularly daft photo of me with the winning shield – and it flowed from there.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
My life philosophies. What I have found that works. I look at life from a systemic view, so I tend to see things very differently from what is being reported and talked about in the mainstream. It’s very inspiring to hear a lot of rubbish that I simply have to put right.
What is hardest – getting published, writing or marketing?
Definitely marketing. I have found that it involves an entirely different way of looking at things and a lot of it is quite alien to me and what I believe. So after about a year of really researching and learning what “should” be done, I’ve reached the stage where I can judge what might work and also be comfortable for me.
What marketing works for you?
I’ve come to the conclusion that what they call “evangelical marketing” is right up my alley :) and makes the most sense. So that would include PR, book tours, etc. that gets the books in front of readers. If this series is helpful, then readers can self-select it and pass the word on.
Do you plan to publish more books?
Yes. I’ve just published the “prequel” to this. Who knew that non-fiction could have a prequel! :D:D And there are 2 more books, at least, after this one. All of them in the same series. After that, who knows? If I still have the writing bug I might do some fiction. I’m trying to get my Mum to recount the fairy stories she used to make up for us when we were growing up. They were utterly delightful! My cousins and I still remember them fondly – so that would be great to share. Let’s see.
What other jobs have you had in your life?
A whole host of them – I’ve been a model, flight attendant, Quality Management System consultant, Curves (the fitness franchise) owner, BodyPump Instructor. I’ve learnt web design, so I could create my own websites. I’ve learnt fashion design, just so I could get clothes that fit perfectly. And that about sums it up.
If you could study any subject at university what would you pick?
Archaeology. I almost did. Though I’m not sure I would want to study the theory of it. I would absolutely love to go on site to digs and help them unearth stuff. It’s fascinating how advanced the “ancient” cultures were.
If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
Hong Kong. And I do. So I am one very happy camper.
How do you write – lap top, pen, paper, in bed, at a desk?
All of the above. It is very strange where and when the perfect expression of an idea pops into my head – some bizarre locations :D I have the unbounded joy to possess a phone whose voice to text transcription is almost perfect. So out comes this handy gadget and I spew all those thoughts into it and email the resulting text to myself. It is beyond wonderful.
Where do you get support from? Do you have friends in the industry?
My Mum and my husband are my biggest supporters. Both of whom are fabulous writers in their own right. No friends in the industry to start out with, but making more fun connections as I move along.
Is there anyone you’d like to acknowledge and thank for their support?
Yes. My husband Robert, without whom this series would never have seen the light of day. Simply because everything I write about is so ingrained, I was vastly astonished that it might be unusual enough to help others. He pointed this out to me enough times for me to decide I’d better do something to remedy the situation. I am grateful to all my readers who have said it made a difference – for an author that is the most satisfying thing of all.
How much sleep do you need to be your best?
A minimum of 8 hours. Any less than that and I look like a squashed cabbage leaf and feel worse.

GoingHome
Very important: Don't stop at reading this book and being philosophically inspired! It is meant to be of practical help - so do the exercises, think and plan for the elements in each ring and you will create a shift within yourself and consequently in your life.
Have you ever wondered - what am I doing with my life?
This is many of us. We huddle within ourselves, lost, lonely and afraid.
We go through school and college seeking answers and direction.
We go to work seeking financial security and satisfaction.
We look to relationships and family for fulfillment and acceptance.
As for ourselves. We are unsure if we are good - have we made the right choices, are we deserving of rewards and blessings. Or are we bad - have we been born under a cloud, or taken many wrong turns and are paying for it.
Is our glass half full or half empty??
Amidst all the questions and confusion, we gamely plough on. If it all gets too much, we self medicate with tv, food, shopping, pills, drugs maybe even people.
We strive to accumulate property, possessions, wealth and more and more, looking to external factors for security and identity.
We don't know what we are looking for, whether we've found it or where to stop.
And so life remains an unsolvable puzzle. And we remain - lost.
In the Core of Steel series, we take a journey to ourselves. To clear away distractions and crutches and come to an understanding of our own strength.
Going Home: A roadmap to fulfillment and abundance by finding your truth, which is Book 1 of the series lays the foundation for that journey, by taking you through the 5 rings or levels of consciousness.
You must know what you need and want at each level and set yourself on the path to achieving it to be able to successfully deal with each succeeding ring. As you truly comprehend and deal with your life, you are able to move to the outer and higher rings - gaining in consciousness as you go.
When you advance through each level, your understanding of yourself and the world around you expands, lifting you to a bigger and fuller life.
And when you surpass the last ring you are flying. You will have reached such a deep understanding of yourself and the world around you that you can make choices with a surety and knowledge that ensures success.
And this will not be a flash in the pan success, but a real and satisfying one that will radiate through all areas of your life, for the rest of your life.
There is a kernel of strength at your core waiting to be recognised and nurtured. No matter where you are right now, no matter how hopeless you feel, know that it is there. The real you. Don't wait any longer. Transform now!
